Benue commissioner regains freedom after 10 days in captivity
The abducted Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism in Benue State , Mr Mathew Abo, has been released after spending 10 days in the den of his kidnappers.
The commissioner who was whisked away by gunmen who invaded his house on September 24 in Zaki-Biam, was released in the early hours of Thursday.
The Police Command Spokesman in the state, SP Sewuese Anene, confirmed the development.
Meanwhile, the commissioner has thanked Governor Hyacinth Alia and all people of Benue for their efforts and prayers towards his safe release by the kidnappers.
“I appreciate all the effort and prayers that have culminated in my release and reunion with my family and society. I wish that my ordeal will lead to renewed efforts to tackle both internal and external security challenges in the state and I call for the cooperation of everyone in the task ahead.”
