An association for the blind in Kuwait has donated 150 Braille copies of the Holy Qur’an to visually impaired students in Kebbi State.
The copies of the Braille Qur’an were presented to students of the School for Special Needs, Birnin Kebbi by Engr Imrana Ibn Usman, Special Adviser to Kebbi state governor on Religious Affairs, on behalf of the association.
He explained that each student will have a complete Qur’an, adding that “the Braille Qur’ans will enable the visually impaired students to study the Qur’an just like their sighted counterparts. “
He said this was “a significant step in fostering inclusivity.”
Usman said government had established a Special Needs Commission and appointed its board members to oversee initiatives aimed at supporting individuals with disabilities.
He assured the management that the school’s problems will be relayed to Gov. Nasir Idris for prompt intervention.
Earlier, the school’s principal, Malam Abubakar Yahaya Ambursa, expressed appreciation on behalf of the students and staff for the donation.
“Before now, our school did not possess a single complete Braille Qur’an. This donation has filled a critical gap, ensuring both students and teachers have personal copies,” he said.
