A member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Nafisah Umar Hassan, has donated school uniforms to 100 pupils of Batagarawa Low-cost Primary School in Katsina State.

Nafisah, with registration number KT/24A/1178 and currently serving with the state Ministry of Environment, had also trained 20 women on poultry farming and feed production, drilled a borehole at Dan-Shirwa community, and donated 50 mattresses each to the Primary Health Centres in Kaita, Batagarawa and Rimi LGAs.

The 20 women underwent training in best agronomic practice in poultry production, management and market linkages.

Speaking during the distribution of the uniforms, Nafisah said that the intervention was part of her Community Development Service (CDS), and her desire to uplift the less privileged and provide succour to those in need.

Nafisah said the pupils were mostly from poor homes, and those who lost their parents due to banditry.

She said: “I embarked on this project to assist the pupils because most of them have the interest and the zeal to go to school. This will assist them in pursuing their elementary education.”

In his remarks, the state NYSC Coordinator, Ibrahim Saidu, commended the corps member for the humanitarian project, and called on other serving corps members in the state to emulate her.

Saidu urged the 34 local government chairmen in the state to support corps members deployed to their area in carrying out their community development service.
