Sanusi offers to intervene in Fulani crises in Nigeria
The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, has expressed his readiness to intervene in the lingering Fulani crises in the country in order to find a permanent solution to the problem.
Sanusi said this when received the leadership of Tapital Pulaku Njode Jam Nigeria on Tuesday at his Palace in Kano.
“But this can only be done if the Federal Government will give me full support to achieve my mission because they have the might and what it takes to make my strategy work, while I will provide the ideas and the methodologies on how to go about it.
“No doubt, Fulani people in Nigeria have suffered heavy attacks, isolation, killings, destructions and rustling of their cattle. All these things were carried out across the country, and something needs to be done to arrest the situation.
“However, it is true that there are some bad eggs amongst them who have spoilt the good name of the tribe and subjected them to what they are suffering today.
“This is the time for the Government to join hands with us to find a permanent solution to the crises, more especially between the Fulanis and the Farmers and also where they are suspected to be carrying out other crimes,” he said.
The Emir added: “I am personally ready to help the government to achieve the desired objective of having peace and prosperity among the Fulani people and indeed, other Nigerians.Their suffering should stop, I believe together we can do it. ”
The Fulani group drew its membership from the 36 states of the federation under the leadership of Modibbo Ibrahim Buba Jada.
During the visit, the group extended their allegiance to the Emir at the Gidan Rumfa Palace of the Emir.
In his remarks, the leader of the group, Madibo Ibrahim Jada, said the visit was to extend the group’s allegiance to the Emir for his return as their leader who was appointed long ago by the Lamido of Adamawa.
Jada said that all members of the group in the 36 sates were in support of Sanusi II, because they believe he was a leader who cared about them.
He said the group believed that the Emir had what it took to correct the battered image of the Fulani people and set the records straight.
