Abducted Winner Of Qur’anic Recitation Competition Not Dead – KTSG
Katsina State Government on Friday said that the abducted winner of National Qur’anic Competition, Abdussalam Rabiu Faskari, his father and two siblings are still alive.
The state Commissioner for Information, Dr Bala Salisu Zango, who made the clarification on Friday in Katsina, said contacts had been established with them, and the abductors had demanded for N30 million ransom.
“The attention of Katsina State government has been drawn to recent media reports and condolences message contained in a press statement signed by Special Advisor to Kebbi State Governor on Media and Publicity Yahaya Sarkin, that the kidnapped winner of National Qur’anic recitation competition, Hafizul Qur’an and final year Medical student from Katsina State, Abdussalam Rabiu Faskari was killed by his abductors.
“While we appreciate the kind gesture, concern and compassion shown by the Kebbi State Government over the unfortunate incidents, we wish to state that, the Quran recitation competition winner Rabiu Abdussalam Faskari, his father and brother were really abducted by bandits, but information reaching the government indicates that, they are still alive and healthy in the custody of their abductors.
“As at today Friday 14th March, 2025, their abductors are demanding the ransom of Thirty Million Naira from their family.”
He said that Governor Dikko Radda has condemned the abduction, describing it as unfortunate, and vowed that the state government “will take concrete actions to rescue and ensure safe return of all the abducted victims, as rescue effort is being put in place.”
