Alleged Salary Deductions: Kano Governor Suspends Head of Service
Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has suspended the state Acting Head of Service and Permanent Secretary, Establishment, Salisu Mustapha, to pave way for thorough investigation of alleged unauthorised dedications of the salaries of civil servants in the state.
The suspension, which is with immediate effect, was announced by the governor’s media aide, Sanusi Bature in a statement issued on Thursday.
The governor also directed Mustapha to step aside as Permanent Secretary, Establishment to allow for an unhindered investigation.
In his place, Malam Umar Muhammad Jalo, the Permanent Secretary, REPA, has been named as the new Acting Head of Service, pending the outcome of the ongoing probe.
The governor reaffirmed his zero-tolerance for corruption and warned that anyone found involved in the ongoing investigation guilty will face severe consequences.
It could be recalled that a committee to investigate the salary dedications and non-payment of some civil servants was inaugurated today.
