APC Townhall Turns Bloody in Jigawa As Factions Clash

By: Ahmed Aminu, Dutse

Rival members of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Jigawa State turned on themselves at a townhall engagement in Kafin Hausa on Sunday, destroying vehicles and other properties, and leaving some drenched in blood.

Eye witnesses said many party members had varying degrees of injuries, while the conference hall hosting the event was vandalised.

Kafin Hausa is the home town of Governor Umar Namadi.

The event was organised an APC chieftain in Kafin Hausa local government area, Alhaji Zakari Sidi to drum support for President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.

The Syndicate learnt that the event initially went on smoothly, but was disrupted by some members of the party who attacked the gathering forcing people to run helterskelter to save themselves.

Some political analysts believe that the attack was not unconnected with the continuing battle between Governor Namadi and Defence minister Mohammed Badaru Abubakar to take full control of the party.

Efforts to contact the police spokesperson in Jigawa, Lawan Shiisu Adam, was unsuccessful as his phone didn’t connect on Sunday evening.
