Army Completes Rigorous Leadership Training For Warrant Officers, SNCOs
The Nigerian Army has concluded a 22-week rigorous leadership training and Warrant Officers and Senior Non-Commissioned Officers (SNCOs) aimed at enhancing effective command structure of the service.
The Warrant Officers Academy Course 45/ 2025 was conducted at the Jaji Military Cantonment in Kaduna State.
In a message to the graduation of the personnel, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, said the Warrant Officers and (SNCOs) play very critical command and leadership in the armed forces.
Oluyede, who was represented by the Commander, Infantry Corps, Major Geeneral Usman Yusuf, that they bridge the gap between commissioned officers and the enlisted cadre.
He urged the course participants to utilise their new skills to bridge knowledge and leadership gaps in their units and formations, adding that the training was aimed at addressing junior leadership challenges, which is crucial for effective decision making.
The chief of army staff commended the commandant and instructors of the Academy for the successful conduct of the course.
He therefore charged the warrant officers and senior non-commissioned officers to apply their leadership skills for the benefit of the Nigerian Army and the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
Oluyede emphasised that the training on mentorship, leadership, man-management, regimentation, and other field exercises should greatly enhance their output.
The chief of army staff expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu,
for his support, and applauded the Chief of Training for promoting joint training initiatives among junior-level leaders of the Nigerian Army.
The participants included personnel from the Nigerian Navy, Air Force, and allied students from the Republic of Liberia.
Earlier, Commandant of the academy, Brig.-Gen. Aminu Umar, said 81 personnel took part in the rigorous training which featured intensive field and academic activities tailored to enhancing their capacity.
According to him, the course was to enable them to efficiently interpret and communicate command decisions, bridging the gap between commissioned officers and junior non-commissioned officers.
Umar charged the course participants to be courageous, honest, disciplined, and loyal leaders, as well as highly professional in carrying out their duties.
He also encouraged them to build on the knowledge gained through self-development.
The commandant expressed gratitude to Oluyede, and all the leadership of the various army units and schools for their support, as the academy continues contribute positively to the ongoing transformation in the Nigerian Army.
