Bandits Dislodge 23 Communities In Niger State

Isah, who represents Kontagora II in the Assembly, made this known in a motion of urgent public importance he presented on the floor of the House during plenary on Tuesday.

He said that the communities were within the military training ground used by the artillery corps in Kontagora and part of Mariga LGAs.

The lawmaker said that people living in the affected communities had fled due to incessant attacks by bandits.

“Bandits have established at least eight different camps in the area which now serves as their safe haven.

“This has posed a serious security threat to communities both in Kontagora and Mariga LGAs,” he said.

Isah said some residents of the affected communities that were abducted during recent attacks were still in captivity.

After deliberations on the motion by the members, the state Assembly asked the state government to interface with the military to flush out the bandits, so as to enable the residents to return to their homes.
