Bandits Dislodge More Communities In Katsina Despite Peace Deal
Bandits have ordered residents of communities in western part of Kankara in Katsina State to move out with immediate effect.
The order issued by a notorious bandit leader operating in the area, Babaro, came barely three weeks after the bandits and local leaders signed a peace deal.
Communities affected include Zango, Jeka areda, Danbirgima, Tsamiyar Nabuje, and Kafin rinji, among others.
The displaced villagers have been trooping to Kankara and other safer communities for shelter as they scramble to avoid the wrath of the bandits, who promised to launch an atrocious attack on the communities.
Residents who spoke on condition of anonymity confirmed that more than 50 people were abducted in the area this week, with no response coming from security forces and the government.
In Dandume Local Government Area, the bandits on September 23 attacked Unguwar Waziri in Tumburkai despite the peace deal signed barely a week ago.
The bandits also on September 18, kidnapped 11 people and wounded one in Unguwar Allahnanan in Tumburkai, in total breach of the peace deal.
In Bakori and Faskari local government areas, the peace deal is also not holding well as bandits continue raids and attacks on residents.
Locals said the bandit on Monday morning killed one Alhaji Sada Abdullahi, bringing the total number of those killed six following attacks on Tagwayen Rahi and Dajin Guga along Guga-Bakori road.
“Monday, 22nd, September, 2025, was another sad day for Bakori North. It’s an indicator of our hopeless situation, the strengthening of our doubt as to the seriousness and honesty of the government to find a lasting solution to these insecurities.
“The bandits did not spare the areas where peace accord was reached because on that Monday they attacked neighbouring Faskari communities where several people were annihilated and injured. There are still dead bodies in the bushes around Gidan-Gona that cannot be retrieved for burial.”
A resident, Mahadi Danbinta Guga urged government to take action before people resort to self help.
“One will be forced to believe that, things are getting out of hand. The government should stop pretending and take the right action before it loose control.
“I hope it’ll not reach the situation where victims will be frustrated and forced to take arms. Please do something before the situation is branded “GENOCIDE”! Stop this madness before you become the victims,” he stated on his verified Facebook page.
