Benue Police Rescue 6 Children Stolen From Plateau, Arrest 3 Women

The Police Command in Benue State has announced the arrest of three women over allegation of human trafficking.
A statement issued on Friday by DSP Udeme Edet, the command Police Public Relations Officer said the women were arrested on 20th November 2025, at about 1705hrs by police operatives on patrol along the Orokam–Enugu Road.
The suspects are Mrs. Monica Okonkwo, 57, Nkiru Nwosu, 55, and Oyechele Francisca, 57, all of Umude Oka Dunukofia, Anambra State.
“The suspects were found in transit with six children, namely: Amanda Chukwujekwu F, 8yr, Chioma Maduagwu F, 8yrs, Oyechegi Kosisochukwu F, 9yrs, Okonkwo Odinaka Chukwu F, 9yrs, Arinze Chukwu M, 7yrs, Oluchukwu Esther F, 9yrs.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the children were taken from Divine Peace and Grace Orphanage, Jos, Plateau State, under questionable circumstances, with the suspects claiming they were being transported to Anambra State.
“The children have been successfully rescued and are under protective care, while the suspects are in custody as investigations continue at the State CID,” the statement added.

According to the statement, the deceased were chased and killed by the mob before the police arrived.
The statement added that eleven suspected stolen motorcycles, forty-seven motorcycle seats, fuel tanks, criminal charms, three mattresses, one single-barrel firearm, and other items were recovered from the resident of the deceased.
The Commissioner of Police in Benue, Ifeanyi Emenari, has strongly condemned all forms of mob action, describing it as a dangerous trend that obstructs justice, violates fundamental human rights, and sabotages Police investigations.
He urged the public to always report and hand over suspects to lawful authorities, assuring that the Command remains steadfast in its mission to protect lives and property across Benue State.
