BREAKING: NNPCL raises petrol price to N900 per litre
The Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), on Tuesday, raised the pump price of petrol in all its outlets from N617 to N900 per litre.
There has been petrol scarcity across the country with some independent marketers selling the product for over N1000 per litre in some filling stations.
Although the government owned company has denied adjustment in price, motorists who went to buy fuel at NNPCL retail stations said that the price adjustment was made Tuesday morning.
A motorist and retiree, Engr. Suleiman Tuge, in a post on his Facebook page said, he was taken aback with the sudden price adjustment.
He wrote: “WONDERS SHALL NEVER END
“I trust we woke up fine. Queueing up for fuel this morning at NNPCL Mega Station on Outer Northern Expressway (ONEX), Kubwa Road, I met a surprise.
“The attendants started selling as early as 6.30am at N617.00 per litre, only for them to suspend the sale and readjusted the meter to N900.00 per litre.
“May Allah endow us with the means to buy, ameen.”
The rise in pump price is coming on the day Dangote Refinery announced that its petrol will hit the Nigerian market in the next two days.
Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group, had also said that the NNPCL will determine the retail price of petrol from the refinery.
Nigerians were hopeful that the cost of petrol will drop once Dangote Refinery begins selling the product, however, recent developments seemed to be indicating otherwise as fuel marketers were reported on Monday to have said that Nigerians should be ready to pay more for petrol.
