CG Immigration Interacts With Boarder Communities In Jigawa, Seeks Support

The Comptroller General of the Nigerian Immigration Service, Mrs. Kemi Nandap, has called on boarder communities in the country to support the immigration service by providing useful information to enhance effective security along the Nigerian boarders.
The Comptroller General made the call while interacting with the boarder communities at Maigari international boarder in Jigawa state.
“The service is in dire need of the support and assistance of all stakeholders to ensure safety of our boarders,” Kemi Nandap said, and expressed concern on the recent cases of trafficking of under age girls through the borders.
“One of it is the under age victims found and rescued from Ghana. The case is really painful and disheartening to any right thinking parent.
“In this regard, I’m pleading with the members of the Nigerian Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and National Association of Transport Owners (NATO) to please assist us in monitoring and providing us with any suspicious passengers at motor parks, because most of such act is being carried out through our roads”.
On the porous nature of Nigerian boarders, she said extra attention involving well meaning citizens was necessary “to ensure all boarders are safe and secure”.
According to her, the federal government is applying technological system and digitalised surveillance cameras linked to the national headquarters where all are being monitored and supervises 24/7.
Addressing the officers and men of the immigration services at Maigari border, the Comptroller General told the personal that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is committed to providing the service with latest improved working equipment to ensure effective manning all the boarders.
Mrs Nandap observed that the shortage of manpower was one of the immigration service challenges.
She assured the personnel of improved welfare and motivation for all hard working staff members.
