CLEEN Foundation holds townhall to strengthen justice sector in Jigawa

CLEEN Foundation has organised a townhall to get new perspectives on how to strengthen justice sector oversight and enhance the sustainability of criminal justice administration in Jigawa State.
The Syndicate reports that the townhall was held in Dutse and brought together critical stakeholders across the broad stream of the society.
They include the Police, Correctional Service, Ministry of Justice, Nigeria Bar Association, Jigawa State Justice Sector Reform, Nigeria Customs Service, Human Rights Commission, and Legal Aid Council, among other stakeholders.
The Executive Director of CLEEN Foundation, Mr. Peter Maduoma, represented by Ademola Adewuyi, urged the participants to provide actionable recommendations that will strengthen the justice sector and enhance its sustainability.
He said that the event should focus on institutional strengthening and sustainability engagement on the Administration of Criminal Justice Law (ACJL) in the state.
The executive director said Jigawa was among the eight states the foundation has been working for over two years, promoting effective implementation of the ACJL through advocacy, capacity building, policy reforms, and multi-stakeholder engagements.
Meanwhile, the participants have promised to make the Administration of Criminal Justice Monitoring Committee more functional, to ensure effective implementation of the ACJL regime in the state.
