The newly established Coalition of Climate Action, Economic Empowerment, and Responsive Governance in Jigawa State has elected its pioneer leadership team.

The coalition, which brings together leading voices in civic engagement, governance, and development, aims to strengthen inclusive governance, promote economic empowerment, tackle climate-related challenges and social protections across the state.

The leadership team comprised Comrade Shuaibu Musa Kafingana as Co-Chair, Mustapha Babura, Chairman Economic Empowerment, and Ahmed Ilallah to chair Climate Action.

Other members were also selected into various leadership positions to advance the coalition’s mission.

Speaking shortly after the election, the Co-Chairman said they would work tirelessly to deliver “real and lasting impact” that prioritises Jigawa’s development.

He called on members and partners to remain united in pursuing the coalition’s objectives.

Kafingana expressed appreciation to the Partnership for Agile Governance and Climate Engagement (PACE), supported by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, for their role in shaping and supporting the coalition.

“Their vision and support in bringing this initiative to life is deeply appreciated,” Kafingana stated.

With a clear focus on climate action and economic empowerment as its strategic pillars, the coalition is set to  collectively drive sustainable development and strengthen community resilience in Jigawa State.
