Damaturu Sesame Seeds Processing Plant Excites Gov. Buni
The Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni has paid an unscheduled visit to the Damaturu Sesame Seeds Processing factory to assess the level of installation of its facilities.
The company is among the four being set up in the state to enhance the quality and value of sesame seeds, a major cash crop in Yobe State. Sesame is being cultivated in all the 17 local government areas of the state.
The Syndicate reports that the governor was excited with the level of work at the factory and commended the contractor for working within the contractual time frame.
The Processing plants are being set up in Damaturu, Machina, Nguru, and Potiskum at the cost of N3.5 billion.
The Machina plant has already began operation, processing six tonnes of Sesame seeds per hour.
Already, the state government has received interest from companies in Europe and the Middle East to trade in sesame seeds and livestock through the Damaturu cargo airport.
At least 60,000 tonnes of Sesame seeds are expected to be processed annually by the factories.
