Dangote Coal Seals Landmark Development Pact With 3 Host Communities In Benue
In line with its corporate social responsibility, Dangote Coal Mines Limited has sealed a landmark Community Development Agreement (CDA) with three host communities in Benue State.
The CDA, described by stakeholders as a major milestone, involves the provision of infrastructures in the areas of education, roads, health and water in the communities.
According to representatives of Dangote Coal and the host communities, under the agreement, the company will undertake social programmes in support of government efforts.
The agreement is a “breakthrough in our effort to touch lives,” a representative of the company, Nuhu Elujah said.
“Today, we have a document to guide us with regards the Abache community.”
According to him, the company will implement projects in education, roads, health and water infrastructures.
In her remarks, Ms. Bimbo Adams, who representated the Minister of Solid Minerals Development said the pact represents a major milestone and “a new era for peace and development.”
The Ward Head of Ugbokolo, Chief Emmanuel Ikom, applauded Dangote Coal Mines Limited for implementing various projects in the three host communities in Okpokwu Local Government Area, and urged it not to relent.
Also, the representative of Abache community, Mr. Sunday Onoko Aluh, appreciated the company for making the CDA a reality, and pledged that his community will co-exist peacefully with the management of the company to facilitate rapid development of the area.
Other traditional leaders at the event commended Dangote Coal for its numerous social programmes and other interventions in the area, and said that the agreement was a win-win for all the parties.
