Digitisation of nominal roll part of Yobe civil service reform – HOS

The Yobe State Head of Civil Service (HoS) and the Chairman of the civil servants Biodata Capturing Committee, Hamidu M. Alhaji, has said that the ongoing digitisation of the state nominal roll was part of ongoing reform to make the state civil service among the best in the world.
A statement by Alhassan Sule Mamudo, Chief Information Officer, Office of the Head of Service, said Hamidu made this known while monitoring the exercise in Damaturu.
The HOS, who monitored the exercise in company of the Commissioner of Finance, Alhaji Mohammed Abatcha Geidam, said that the aim of the civil servants biodata capturing was to ensure internal control.
He expressed satisfaction with the level and progress made so far, adding that the digitisation of the nominal roll will enhance prudence in the management of finances of the state government.
Hamidu commended the efforts of the committee, and enjoined ministries, departments and agencies to comply with the committee’s directive of submitting the files of their staff to avoid problem.
He said that over 20,763 personnel have so far been captured out of the 30,863 staff in the state civil service since the exercise commenced on June 4, 2024.
The HOS assured that the remaining 10,099 will also be captured.
Hamidu restated that the reform of the civil service will make it more efficient and responsive to the needs of the state.
In his remarks, the Commissioner of Finance, also commended the committees for doing “a wonderful job”.
He added that the exercise will enable the government to a comprehensive nominal roll, which is a key document for the efficient handling of personnel in any organisation.
Gaidam noted that since the creation of Yobe state, there has been no comprehensive nominal roll in the office of the head of the service despite the need for it.
