
Mr Muhammad Alhassan, Kano State Director of the Department of State Security (DSS) on Thursday, denied media reports alleging that operatives of the command invaded and occupied the palace of the Emir of Kano.
It is not true, he told newsmen in Kano, explaining that the personnel were deployed to the palace as part of security arrangement for the visit of the First Lady, Mrs Oluremi Tinubu, to the Emir.
The director, however, said that the personnel were withdrawn following the postponement of the visit due to the Emir’s absence.
According to him, the presence of the operatives at the palace had nothing to do with the political tension regarding the status of the emirates in the state.
Alhassan who said that the media reports were false and malicious, meant to cause unnecessary tension through misinformation.
The State House of Assembly on Thursday repealed the Kano Emirates Council Law, 2019, thereby abrogating all existing emirates in the state.
