The police command in Jigawa State, says it has put in place all security arrangements to ensure a peaceful, safe, and hitch-free celebration of the 2026 Eid al-Fitr Sallah across the state.
SP Shiisu Lawan Adam, the Police Public Relations Officer, stated this in a statement on Thursday in Dutse.
“In line with its constitutional mandate of safeguarding lives and property, the Command will strategically deploy adequate personnel and operational assets across all critical locations in the state before, during, and after the festivities.
“Prior to the Sallah celebrations, the Command continues to carry out extensive confidence-building patrols, intelligence gathering, and surveillance operations across all 27 Local Government Areas. Special attention will be given to Eid prayer grounds, recreational centers, parks, malls, markets, and other public spaces.
“Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) were directed to intensify visibility policing and engage community stakeholders to ensure proactive crime prevention.
“On the day of the celebrations, a robust security presence will be maintained at all designated Eid prayer grounds and venues of social gatherings. Personnel from tactical units, including the Mobile Police Force and the Rapid Response Team, will be deployed to complement conventional policing.
“Traffic control measures will also be implemented to ease movement and prevent congestion, while patrol teams will be strategically stationed to respond promptly to any distress calls,” Adam said.
He added that the command plans to sustain patrols and surveillance across the state to prevent crime.
“Following the festivities, the Command will continue to sustain heightened patrols and surveillance to forestall any criminal activities that may arise.
“Officers shall remain on high alert to ensure that residents returning to their various destinations do so safely. Monitoring of black spots and flashpoints across the state is ongoing to maintain law and order.
“The Commissioner of Police, Jigawa State Command, reiterates the Command’s commitment to providing a secure environment for all residents and visitors. He urges members of the public to remain vigilant and law-abiding and to cooperate with security agencies by providing timely and useful information.
“Parents and guardians are advised to caution their wards against reckless behavior, while motorists are warned to adhere strictly to traffic regulations to avoid accidents.
“The Command appreciates the support and cooperation of the good people of the state and wishes all Muslim faithful a peaceful and joyous Eid celebration,” he said.
