The Deputy Chairman of the Yobe State Council of Chiefs and the Mai Bade, Alhaji Abubakar Umar Suleiman, has called for unity among the people of Bade Emirate and Yobe State at large, emphasising that the time has come for all to embrace peace and harmony.

The Mai Bade made the call at his palace in Gashu’a, the headquarters of Bade Local Government Area in Yobe State, when District, Village, and ward heads of the emirate paid him Sallah homage.

He stressed the need for collective efforts in eliminating actions that could disrupt the peace and stability of the emirate.

“There can be no meaningful development without peace, and it is our duty to work tirelessly to ensure lasting peace for our people. This can only be achieved by recognizing the importance of peace in every society,” he said.

The Emir urged herders and farmers to avoid anything that could trigger conflict.

“We cannot afford to sit back and allow conflicts between herders and farmers to hinder our progress. We must rise and confront the factors fueling disputes among us,”  Abubakar added.

“Each of us has a role to play in ensuring that our people live in tranquility and peace. We must remind ourselves that every farmer is a herder, and every herder is a farmer, meaning we are all brothers and sisters.”

The Mai of Bade called for stronger collaboration among traditional rulers to prevent issues that could lead to unrest and to promote lasting peace in towns and villages of Bade Emirate.

Similarly, Abubakar urged leaders, community heads, stakeholders, and the general public to uphold the valuable lessons of patience, compassion, and unity learned during the holy month of Ramadan.

The royal father advised the youth to remain obedient, shun negative behaviors, and embrace good morals, as they are the leaders of tomorrow.

“Parents must prioritise giving their children sound upbringing, as commanded by the teachings of Islam,” he admonished.
