Emir Pledges Significant Transformation, Development of Zuru Emirate
The newly appointed Emir of Zuru, Alhaji Sanusi Mikailu Sami, the Gomo III, has pledged to work towards significant transformation and development of Zuru Emirate.
Speaking during an interview in his Palace in Zuru on Friday, the Emir said his mission and vision go beyond a few years of reign, but to a future where Zuru will experience significant transformation and development.
He sought the cooperation of the people of the Emirate so that together they would move the area forward.
Sami expressed profound appreciation to Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris for his extraordinary leadership and unwavering commitment to the development of Zuru Emirate.
The Emir also thanked the people of the Emirate for their overwhelming support and pledged to work closely with the Governor to make Zuru a better and more prosperous society.
He expressed confidence that the intervention of Governor Idris would transform Zuru into a hub of progress, with improved infrastructure such as roads linking the Emirate to other states and making access to major cities easier and faster.
He described the governor as the true “Garkuwan Zuru” (Shield of Zuru), because of his steadfast efforts to complete the ongoing Koko-Dabai road project, which has drastically reduced travel time between Zuru and Birnin Kebbi.
“Now, in just two hours, you can reach Birnin Kebbi, unlike before when it took six hours because of bad roads. Today, vehicles can even ‘fly’ on the road,” the Emir noted.
He also commended the Governor for exhibiting remarkable leadership during the demise of the late Emir, Maj.-Gen. Sani Sami (rtd), the Gomo II, and his adherence to due process in the selection of a new Emir.
He expressed gratitude to the Kingmakers and security agencies for their roles in the smooth transition, and prayed for divine guidance to lead with justice and fairness.
“I am again extending special thanks to Governor Nasir Idris for his intervention in the rehabilitation of the KoKo – Dabai road which has immensely rekindled economic activities and social interaction among our communities”,
“We are also happy about the consistent effort by the governor to improve security in the Emirate with fruitful results”,
He also lauded the unity and love shown by the people of Zuru before, during, and after his emergence as Emir, assuring them of his commitment to their collective progress.
