Emir turbans Dangote Varsity VC as Sarkin Kudu of Gaya

It was  pomb and pageantry as Prof. Musa Tukur Yakasai, the Vice Chancellor, Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology Wudil was turbaned by the Emir of Gaya, Alhaji Aliyu Ibrahim, as Sarkin  Kudun Gaya.

In a ceremony at the Emir’s Palace in Gaya, Ibrahim presided over the proceedings as the custodian of the people’s culture and traditions.

Speaking,  the Emir said that the gesture was in recognition of the Vice Chancellor’s numerous contributions to the development of the Gaya Emirate.

He said that Yakasai had contributed immensely toward the development of the society, saying that his turbaning as the Sarkin Kudun Gaya was aimed at encouraging him to do more.

He tasked the VC to strive hard to be a role model in all his future endeavours as an ambassador of the Emirate.

He also tasked districts and village heads in the Emirate to continue to assist in mobilising their subjects to support government’s policies and programmes aimed at improving their livelihood.

The Emir prayed to the Almighty Allah to provide bumper harvest for farmers in 2025 farming season.

The ceremony included horse ride by the newly turbaned Sarkin Kudu of Gaya in both Gaya and Yakasai in Kano city.

The Emir had on June 13, appointed Yakasai as the Sarkin Kudun Gaya.

The  appointment was contained in a letter signed by Wamban Gaya and Senior Councillor (Admin.) Gaya Emirate Council, Alhaji Mansur Ibrahim Gaya.

According to the letter, the appointment was based on Yakasai’s track record of service, dedication, and personal attributes displayed over the years.

The Emir expressed hope that Yakasai would exhibit these sterling qualities in discharging his assignments and contribute to the betterment and advancement of Gaya Emirate Council and the state in general.
