Gov. Alia restates commitment to workers welfare
The Governor of Benue State, Rev Fr Hyacinth Iormem Alia has restated his commitment to the welfare of workers, saying his administration will continue to support civil servants to discharge their duties effectively.
The governor who made the pledge when he inspected the site of a fire incident at the state secretariat on Monday in Makurdi, said he would ensure that civil servants continue to receive their salaries on the 25th of the month.
Alia who addressed the workers after the inspection said a 33KV transformer has already been installed to end the eight year spell the workers had been operating without electricity.
He, however, warned against laxity and lack of commitment to duty, stressing that the civil servants must play their own part to complement government gesture.
The governor directed some ministries to automate their services, saying they must deploy technology to run their activities.
“Benue must be technically driven in all areas,” he told officials of the ministries of Youths, Sports and Creativity; Education, and Women Affairs, among others.
The governor had while assessing the level of damage caused by fire at the office of an Internal Auditor at the Ministry of Education, thanked God that government files were not burnt.
Alia who was received by the Commissioner for Education and Knowledge Management, Rev. Fredrick Ikyaan, later visited Commissioners’ Quarters, the Ministry of Works and Housing, and that of Justice.
