Gov. Buni Awards Automatic Employment to Volunteer Teacher

Yobe state Governor, Mai Mala Buni, on Saturday awarded automatic employment to Fatima Jibrin Abdullahi, a volunteer teacher at Kara Government Day Junior Secondary School, Potiskum.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Governor’s Director General for Press and Media Affairs, Mamman Mohammed and made available to journalists in Damaturu, the Yobe state capital.
He said Fatima, a holder of National Certificate of Education (NCE), also volunteered as a tutor at the just concluded Spelling Bee Competition organized for students of public and private schools across the state.
“Government will support this programme to encourage our students to participate actively and to make the competition an annual event.” he said.
Khadija Modu Manga of Zaid Bin Thabit Secondary School Damaturu emerged first and bagged a prize of N1 million, followed by Yusuf Haruna Mohammed of Government Day Junior Secondary School Kara Potiskum, who was presented with a gift of N305,000, and Humaira Haruna Mohammed of Junior Secondary School Gashua, who emerged third and got N200,000 for her efforts.
Earlier, leader of the organising committee and Executive Secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Dr. Mohammed Goje, said the competition was sponsored by individuals to improve the intellectual capacity of the students.
He commended members of the public for contributing to the success of the programme.
