Gov. Buni empowers women in 17 LGAs
Yobe state Governor, Mai Mala Buni has extended more empowerment support to women groups across the 17 local government areas of the state.
The Governor announced the support on Sunday in Damaturu when he received in audience representatives of various women groups in the state.
According to a statement by Mohammed Mamman, Director-General, Press and Media Affairs to the Governor, the governor said the government has procured many empowerment materials for distribution to women to improve their economy and livelihood.
Governor Buni said that the materials were meant to enhance self-reliance and economic stability of the women.
“You are strongly advised against selling these materials as government will continue to support you,” he added.
He directed the Commissioner for Empowerment to provide the groups with 500 deep freezers, pending the official launch of the women empowerment programme.
Earlier, the state Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajiya Yajallo Badama, commended Gov. Buni for his gender sensitivity, and recognition of women in the scheme of things in the state.
She called on all women in Yobe to continue to support government policies and programmes for a better and improved livelihood.
