Gov. Buni Presents Cash support, House to Victims of Boko Haram

Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni on Friday presented a house and cash to security personnel who suffered injuries as a result Boko Haram attack along Maiduguri-Damaturu road on Nov. 18, 2023.

Gov. Buni represented by Secretary to the State Government, Baba Malam Wali, commiserated with the affected officers and prayed for the repose of the soul of one of them that lost his life.

He said the government and people of the Yobe will continue to appreciate and reward gallant security personnel who are making sacrifices for peace to reign in the state.

Buni urged the security personnel to continue with the good work of protecting citizens, pledging the support of the state Government in whatever way possible.

Mrs Sadiya Mohammed Maina, wife of Police Corporal Mohammed Maina who was killed during the attack, was given N2 million capital to start a business of her choice, and additional N1 million for the school fees of her two children.

Also the Governor presented a house worth N7.5 million in Damaturu, the Yobe State capital, as gift to her and the children of late Corporal Maina.

Other security personnel who sustained injuries during the attack were given N1 million each.

The event took place at the office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), and had in attendance, Gen. Dahiru Abdulsalam, Special Adviser on Security Matters to the Governor; Alhaji Abdulkarim Mai Umar, Permanent Secretary Administration and Alhaji Baba Gaidam Kachalla, Permanent Secretary Political Affairs, both in the office of the SSG.

Others who attended the event include Alhaji Yakubu Musa Damagum, Director Security services in the office of the SSG; Alhaji Suma’ila Mai Adamu, Director General Bureau of Public Procurement; Chief Security officer, Government House and Commander Police Special Operation, Damaturu, and many other security personnel.

It would be recalled that on Saturday, Nov. 18, 2023, security personnel attached to Government House Damaturu, were injured in an ambush by suspected Boko Haram fighters along Damaturu-Maiduguri highway while returning to the state from Borno.
