Gov Namadi pledges continued support for outstanding Jigawa indigenes
Gov. Umar Namadi has restated his administration’s unflinching commitment to recognising, encouraging, and supporting outstanding indigenes of Jigawa State across various fields of study, describing human capital development as a cornerstone of his government’s vision for sustainable growth.
The governor made this known on Wednesday afternoon while honouring an exceptional Jigawa indigene, Maryam Sulaiman Abubakar, a graduate of Pharmacy from Bayero University, Kano, at the Council Chambers of the Government House.
Introducing the awardee, the Commissioner for Higher Education, Professor Isa Yusuf Chamo, said Maryam distinguished herself as one of the most decorated graduating students in her discipline, having received nearly all the awards presented by the university in Pharmacy.
According to him, her achievements are a testament to dedication, hard work, and academic excellence.
Maryam received the following awards:
• Overall Best Graduating Pharm D Student Award
• Pharmacy Council of Nigeria Award
• Association of Lady Pharmacists Award
• Clinical Pharmacists Association of Nigeria Award
• Association of Hospital and Administrative Pharmacists of Nigeria Award
• Award of Excellence by Pharmacist Ahmed Ghana for the Best Graduating Student from Jigawa State
Governor Namadi congratulated Maryam on what he described as an exceptional and enviable academic feat. He thanked Allah for blessing Jigawa State with talented individuals like her, saying that she had demonstrated outstanding performance by earning multiple prestigious awards and achieving near-perfect academic grades.
“We are proud of you and lucky to have you as an indigene of Jigawa State. Your achievements have made us proud,” the governor said.
“We will continue to support you in recognition of your exceptional talent. Consequently, the Jigawa State Government will provide full sponsorship for your PhD. programme.”
In further demonstration of the administration’s commitment to nurturing talent, Governor Namadi announced that the Jigawa State Government will grant Maryam full sponsorship for a PhD programme, adding that the government would continue to support her academic journey in recognition of her excellence.
He also directed the Ministry of Higher Education to immediately facilitate and secure her admission to further her studies.
Thegovernorr reiterated that his administration would continue to invest in education and support outstanding Jigawa indigenes as a strategy for building a knowledgeable, competitive, and self-reliant society.
