Gov Namadi presents N689.3 bn 2025 budget for Jigawa

Gov. Umar Namadi of Jigawa on Friday presented a budget of N689.3 billion for 2025 to the State House of Assembly for approval.
Presenting the budget tagged “Budget of Innovation & Transportation for Greater Jigawa”, Namadi said it was meant to sustain the momentum of progress along the same development trajectory that had been charted for the state through the implementation of the 2024 budget.
He said that the budget was made up of N536.75 billion capital expenditure, representing 77 percent and N149.75 billion recurrent expenditure, representing 21 percent.
Namadi said that N11.8 billion representing about 1.7 percent of the budget had been set aside for contingency and stabilization funds and public debt charges.
He said that the budget was expected to be financed through Statutory Allocation from the Federation Account of N34 billion, ₦134.1 billion Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) among others.
“I am pleased to inform the Honourable House, with an overall allocation of over N184 billion representing about 26.4 percent of the overall budget, the highest provision goes to the education sector.
“This is even slightly above the Education For All recommended benchmark of 26 percent minimum provision for the education sector.
“With almost N320 billion, representing about 60 percent of the capital budget, implementation of all our well-conceived projects, programs and initiatives proposed capital budget has been structured and well-articulated to reflect our economy – an economy that guarantees food security for all, provides means of deliver the targeted outputs and outcomes. We are optimistic that over the medium term, our vision of Greater Jigawa will firmly take root with legacies that would stand the test of time,” he said.
Responding, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Haruna Aliyu Dangyatin expressed the legislature’s commitment to a harmonious working relations with the executive to improve the social and economical lives of the people and the state.
He also promised that the house would ensure speedy passage of the budget.
