Gov. Radda sets up 27-member anti-hoarding committee
Gov. Dikko Radda of Katsina State has appointed approved a 27-member committee to regulate the movement of food and essential commodities and deal with anyone hoarding the items across the state.
The composition of the committee was announced on Sunday by Abdullahi Yaradua, the spokesperson of the office of the Secretary to the State Government.
The committee, to be inaugurated on Wednesday, will be headed by Jabir Tsauri, the Chief of Staff to the governor.
The committee is to identify food commodity hoarders, engage with stakeholders on food prices, and collaborate with security agencies to arrest and prosecute violators.
The committee is also to control the buying and transporting of food commodities within and to outside the state, including across international borders.
Members of the committee include the State Commissioners of Justice, Information, and Internal Security; representatives of the Nigerian Army, Police, Civil Defence, DSS, Immigration, Customs, NDLEA and Road Safety Corps.
Also on the committee are the representatives of the Community Watch Corps, Anti Corruption Commission, Hisba, State Traffic Agency, Council of Ulama, Katsina and Daura Emirates, associations of grains sellers and dealers, as well as the Organised Labour.
