Gov. Uba Sani commissions 12m dollar Lithium Processing Plant
Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has inaugurated a 12 million dollar Lithium Processing Plant built in partnership with a Ming Xin Mineral Separation Nigeria Ltd.
The governor said on Tuesday in Kangimi that the project will create 3000 jobs.
He said that Ming Xin Mineral Separation Nigeria Ltd entered into partnership with Kaduna State Government on 31st March 2024.
According to him, the joint venture agreement has equity sharing of 30:70 for Kaduna State Government and the company, respectively.
“This project is set to provide over 3000 job opportunities at both the Kuriga mining site and Kangimi processing plant.
“The current investment is 12 million dollars. The investment will hit 50 million dollars within the next one year.
“Ming Xin Mineral Separation Nigeria Ltd plans to set up a tiles producing facility using the by-products of the lithium processing which would provide another 500 job opportunities,” he added.
Uba explained that the plant will be processing lithium, an element valuable for the production of glass, aluminum products, and batteries.
“The completed Lithium Processing Plant has an initial capacity of 1,500 metric tonnes per day. The completed processing plant is Phase 1 of the project. The capacity of the plant will be doubled to 3,000 metric tonnes per day in Phase 2 of the project.
“The Kaduna State Government will continue to promote investment-friendly policies to boost investors confidence, provide employment opportunities for our citizens and boost our internally generated revenue,” the governor added.
