Gov Yusuf cautions political appointees against indiscipline
Gov. Abba Yusuf of Kano State, has cautioned public officers against indiscipline, following the resignation of the State’s Commissioner for Transportation, Alhaji Ibrahim Dala over his involvement in the release of a suspected drug dealer.
Yusuf said this during the 30th State Executive Council Meeting held on Wednesday at the Government House, Kano.
This is contained in a statement by the spokesperson for the governor, Malam Sunusi Bature on Wednesday in Kano.
Bature said that the governor emphasized that the fight against drugs and other harmful societal behaviors was a central pillar of his administration.
He stated that anyone found to be aiding or abetting such activities—either directly or indirectly would be made to face the full wrath of the law.
Yusuf warned that the resignation of the Commissioner should serve as a wake-up call to every political appointee and civil servant in the state.
“Let it be clear: we will not tolerate any conduct—official or private—that undermines the values we stand for. Every public official must be vigilant and responsible in their dealings. You are not only representing your office but the integrity of the entire administration.
“If anyone among you feels he can no longer uphold the trust bestowed upon him, it is better to voluntarily resign rather than engage in misconduct that could tarnish the image of this administration.
“We came into office with a clear mandate to restore sanity, integrity, and progress in Kano. That mission will not be compromised. I urge all appointees to conduct themselves in a manner that reflects the values of this administration,” he added.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to justice, accountability, and service to the people of the state.
He emphasised that his government remained steadfast in its commitment to fighting drug abuse, trafficking, and all forms of social vices that threaten the well-being and future of the state’s youth.
Yusuf urged members of his cabinet to uphold the highest standards of integrity.
