Gov. Yusuf Consitutes 19-member Consumer Protection Council

 

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved the composition of the Kano State Consumer Protection Council, (KSCPC).

The governor said that the constitution of the 19-member council was a decisive step aimed at safeguarding the rights and interests of consumers across the state.

He said that the council’s primary mandate is to protect consumer rights and ensure businesses operate under fair, transparent, and lawful conditions.

According to him, the initiative aligns with his administration’s commitment to promoting good governance, market confidence, and safeguarding the public from substandard products and unethical business practices.

“The council members are expected to commence operations immediately, addressing consumer complaints, regulating trade practices, and fostering a healthy business environment across Kano State,” Yusuf added.

The KSCPC is chaired by Dr. Umar Garba Haruna, with Alhaji Zangina Jafaru as  Executive Secretary.

Other key members include Ibrahim Ahmad Gama, Hajiya Sadiya Umar Bichi, Alhaji Hussaini Bello Gidado, Alhaji Munzali Abubakar, Ali Muhammad Adakawa, Alhaji Ahmed Isah Chedi, Sani Gambo, Barr. Halima Yahuza Ahmad, and Prof. Salisu Ibrahim Ahmad.

The rest are Aminu Gidado Yushe’u, Bashir Shehu Gezawa, Maryam Halilu Haruna, Bashir Uba, Engr. Faisal Mahmud, Umar Zubairu, and Barr. Shamsu Jibrin, as Secretary/Legal Adviser.
