Gov.Yusuf presents N1.3trn 2026 budget for Kano State

Gov. Abba Yusuf of Kano State has presented a budget of N1.368 trillion for 2026 to the State House of Assembly for consideration.

Presenting the budget tagged “Budget of Infrastructure, Inclusive Growth and Sustainable Development” on Wednesday, Yusuf said it was a financial plan designed to accelerate infrastructure expansion, deepen inclusive growth and entrench sustainable development across the state.

He said that the budget was made up of N934.640 billion capital expenditure and N433.487 billion recurrent expenditure, maintaining a capital-to-recurrent ratio that prioritises long-term investments over routine spending.

Yusuf said the budget was crafted to complete major ongoing projects, consolidate gains recorded in key sectors, and introduce new initiatives that would further boost the state’s socio-economic transformation.

He said that a substantial portion of  the  budget was allocated to capital development in line with his administration’s commitment to addressing infrastructure gaps and improving public services.

Yusuf said the budget reflected his administration’s determination to deliver impactful projects in education, healthcare, road construction, water supply, security, empowerment programmes and urban renewal.

 

He urged the lawmakers to give the budget accelerated consideration to enable timely implementation of development programmes next year.

 

In his remarks, the Speaker of the House,Hon.Jibril Fagore, commended the Governor for his commitment to transparency and people-centred governance, assuring that the house would carry out a thorough and speedy review of the budget.

 

Falgore also lauded the executive for always carrying members of the House along and promised that the Legislature would give adequate attention to the budget.
