Gov Yusuf presents N99bn supplementary budget for Kano State
Gov. Abba Yusuf of Kano State has presented a supplementary budget of N99 billion for 2024 to the state House of Assembly for approval.
Yusuf presented this in a letter read on the floor of the house during plenary presided over by the speaker, Ismail Falgore on Tuesday in Kano.
Reading the letter, Falgore stated that the governor sought the legislature’s approval in pursuant of sections 122(A and B) of the 1999 constitution in order to accelerate and execute priority projects aimed at improving the wellbeing of the people of the state.
He said that the budget was made up of N33 billion recurrent expenditure, N34 billion overhead cost and N30 billion capital expenditure.
Speaking with journalists shortly after the presentation, the state’s commissioner for planning and budget, Mr Musa Shanono, said that the initial budget of the state for 2024 was N437, 338, 312, 787.
“If you merge the original budget with the supplementary budget, it will bring the 2024 budget to the tune of N536, 559, 816, 357.84.
“The supplementary budget will also be used to cover the new minimum wage payment,” he said.
