Gov Yusuf tasks police to find killers of his aide
Gov. Abba Yusuf of Kano State, has tasked the police to fish out the killers Malam Sadiq Gentle, one of his aides who died after an attack by suspected hoodlums.
This is contained in a statement by the spokesperson for the governor, Malam Sunusi Bature on Thursday in Kano.
Bature said that Gentle was a Senior Special Reporter attached to the state Ministry of History and Culture before his death.
Gentle died on Thursday at the Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, succumbing to severe injuries sustained during the vicious machete attack by hoodlums who invaded his residence on Sunday night.
Bature quoted Yusuf as describing Gentle as a dedicated and patriotic social media professional whose violent death has cast a dark cloud over the state government and the media community
“The news of the death of Malam Sadiq Gentle hit me with deep sadness and anguish.
“He was not only a devoted public servant, but also a man of peace and integrity, who served the state with utmost dedication. His gruesome murder is a tragedy and an affront to our collective humanity,” he said.
The governor condemned the killing in the strongest terms, describing it as “heinous, barbaric, and utterly unacceptable.”
He also extended condolences to the deceased’s family, friends, and professional colleagues, assuring them that the government would stand in solidarity with them during this difficult time.
Meanwhile, the police command in Kano, has arrested four persons over alleged killing of one Abdallah Usman, a resident of Tsamiyar Kuturu, Dorayi Karama Quarters in Kano metropolis on August 4, 2025.
The spokesperson for the command,,SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, said the arrest was made possible through a coordinated joint operation involving officers from the Department of Operations, Dorayi Babba Division, Sharada Division, Kumbotso Division, and other tactical teams.
The suspects, all of different addresses within the Dorayi Karama area, were apprehended following a directive by the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, who gave a 24-hour ultimatum to fish out the perpetrators of the heinous crime.
During the raid, cutlasses, a pair of scissors, and other dangerous weapons were recovered from the suspects.
Investigation is ongoing to arrest other fleeing suspects.
Kiyawa added that the cmmand, while commiserating with the family of the deceased, commended the officers involved in the operation for their professionalism and diligence.
“We assure the public of our commitment to maintaining law and order and bringing perpetrators of crimes to justice.
“Further information on this development will be provided as the investigation unfolds,” he said.
