Housing Ministry Begins Personnel Audit To Bridge Skills Gap

The Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, has flagged off the audit of all its personnel in line with the Personnel Audit and Skills Gap Analysis (PAGSA) Project anchored by the Office of Head of Civil Service of the Federation.
The Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr. Shuaib Belgore flagged off the audit on Thursday in Abuja as part of the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan (FCSSIP 25).
The exercise is aimed at verifying and updating personnel records and skills and capacity gaps to support workforce planning and reforms.
The Permanent Secretary highlighted the primary mandate of the ministry in providing affordable housing for Nigerians, acknowledging the hard work put into achieving the mandate by all staff.
He however noted that the ministry was grossly understaffed, having lost over 1,600 staff members due to retirement in the last year and a half.
The situation, he added, has led to huge loss of skills in the ministry and its states field offices, thereby making projects supervision cumbersome.
He therefore tasked the consultants, Georgid Consultants, to “get exactly what our strengths are across the headquarters and all our offices and we will be very interested to have you present some of your findings to us”.
The acting Director Human Resources, Ayodele Ademola, described the verification as a significant step in the collective effort to strengthen institutional capacity, enhance efficiency, and align the ministry’s human resources with its mandate.
Earlier, the CEO of the Georgid Consulting, Isaac Idontenyi pledged to carry out an effective and efficient verification exercise to reposition and transform the service for national transformation and growth.
