I left NNPP in Kano’s Interest- Gov Yusuf
Gov. Abba Yusuf of Kano State says his decision to align with a new political platform is driven by a mission to place the “Kano Agenda” above personal or group interests.
This is contained in a statement signed by the spokesperson for the governor, Sunusi Bature on Sunday.
Bature said that the governor stated this at a Motorcycle Empowerment Programme for social media influencers drawn from the 44 Local Government Areas of the state, held at the Government House, Kano, on Saturday.
“To those of us who have defected from the NNPP, the allies we are joining, and even those who feel we have abandoned them, let us work together for the sustainable development of our state,” he said.
He said that he harboured no hatred toward anyone, but was solely committed to the development of Kano State and the welfare of its people.
“My intentions are purely focused on the development of Kano and the well-being of its people,” he said.
Yusuf also said that the era of disrespectful statements against societal leaders was over, warning that his administration would no longer tolerate or promote insults, but would instead advocate unity, mutual respect and economic prosperity.
He said that recent collaborations on Kano’s economic and political development are already yielding positive results, particularly the renewed partnership between the state government and the Nigeria Police Force in curbing crime.
The governor said that power belong to God alone and he would decide the winner of the 2027 governorship election in the state.
“People have already started discussing who will be the Governor of Kano State in 2027. To me, only God decides.
“However, I will continue to focus on development projects for the betterment of our people,” he said.
He assured that he would wholeheartedly accept whoever God eventually bestows with the leadership of the state.
Yusuf also appealed to social media influencers to use their platforms responsibly by projecting the true image of Islam, which preaches unity, humility and peace.
