Yobe state Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has urged Nigerians to support, cooperate and pray for the leadership of the country to succeed.
This was contained in a statement signed by Mamman Mohammed, Director-General, Press and Media Affairs to the Governor.
Buni, who made the call in a message to commemorate Nigeria’s 64th independence anniversary, said Nigeria requires sacrifice, perseverance and commitment to address long years of decay in the country.
“The challenges of insecurity, the economy, climatic and environmental factors requires strategic and meticulous intervention,” he added.
The governor charged traditional, religious, and opinion leaders to preach peace, tolerance and cooperation to promote unity among Nigerians.
“We should explore our diversity to promote national unity, and we must not misuse our cultural, ethnic and religious differences to the detriment of our national unity,” he said.
According to the governor, providing leadership at difficult and trying times like this requires the sacrifice, support and unity of all.
He expressed optimism that Nigeria would soon overcome the challenges bedeviling it.
