Information Minister Launches Enlightenment Campaign On FG’s Empowerment Programmes

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mr Mohammed Idris, on Thursday, launched an enlightenment programme on the opportunities initiated by the Federal Government to boost the socio-economic status of all citizens.
The minister, who launched the campaign in Dutse, the Jigawa state capital, said the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was meant to improve the capacity of citizens to fend for themselves.
Idris, who was represented by the Head of Federal Information Center in Jigawa, Mala Bashir Dahiru Galadanci, said the administration has been proactive in providing opportunities to move Nigerians, particularly the youth out of poverty.
“The government is highly concerned about the welfare of the citizens and its interventions showcased its commitment to boosting the welfare of the citizens.
“The interventions are aimed at easing the pains of the people including those at the grassroots.
“This sensitization is to provide the citizens of Jigawa state, good understanding of how to access the variety of interventions.”
“I’m appealing to Jigawa state people and country at large to key into the interventions in order to explore new opportunities, to improve their living standard,” he said.
The Jigawa State Director of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mr Ahmad Tijjani, called for public support to the government.
He said that the administration had since inception, introduced policies that affected the living standard of people, thus the need for people to endure and compliment the government for a smooth transition.
Mr Tijjani added that the present administration has been proactive in lifting Nigerians out of poverty and excess hardship through various interventions, and advised the people to explore them in order to benefit.
A Sociology lecturer at the Federal University Dutse, Prof. Ali Siro, in a presentation, highlighted ways of accessing the various interventions.
These, he said, included Students Loan Scheme, Consumer Credit, Compressed Natural Gas, Digital and Creative enterprises support, and the Small startup Artisans Programme.
Others, he said, were the National Youths Talent Export programme, National Housing Initiative, NANO Business Support, Nigerian Youths Academy, Micro and small business loan scheme, among others.
He said that the government has made the repayment of the various loans very flexible.
In a goodwill message, the Emir of Dutse, Hamim Nuhu Sanusi, commended the Federal government for the multiple interventions introduced to cushion the effect of its economic policies.
Represented by the Senior Counsellor in Dutse Emirate, Alhaji Mustapha Aminu, the Emir called for the review of civil service rules, include workers in the new schemes, and reduce the burden of the current economic situation on workers and the general public.
