Insecurity: Yobe Govt orders temporary closure of 3 markets

The Yobe State Government has announced the temporary closure of Katarko, Kukareta, and Buni Yadi weekly markets citing operational reasons linked to ongoing counter-insurgency efforts in the state.
According to a statement by Brigadier General Dahiru Abdulsalam (rtd), Special Adviser on Security Matters to Governor Mai Mala Buni, the closure is a proactive measure aimed at consolidating recent security gains and achieving set targets to improve the overall security situation in the affected communities and the state at large.
“This temporary measure, though with potential inconveniences, is necessary in our collective interest to ensure the success of current operations,” he stated.
The government reassures the public that efforts are being intensified to hasten the operation and minimize the impact of the market closures on the livelihood of residents.
“We appeal for your continued support, cooperation, and understanding in the interest of lasting peace and security,” Abdulsalam added in the statement.
He assured that the three markets would be reopened in the coming days, once conditions permit.
