The Federal Government will in the first quarter of 2024. commence the evacuation of Nigerians forced by Boko Haram insurgency to fled to Cameroon, Chad and Niger Republics.
Aliyu Tijjani Ahmed, Federal Commissioner, National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, made this known when he visited a satellite city built for refugees at Marua, Mafa Local Government Area of Borno State.
“We discussed on the issue of evacuation of our refugees from Cameroon, Niger and Chad and it was agreed that a tripartite meeting will hold.
“The commission will return to the office and we will sit down to come up with processes and procedures which we will apply in evacuating our people that are living in Cameroon, Niger and Chad.
“This is going to be handled by the commission, the government of Borno State and UNCHR.”
Ahmed said that the government would build satellite cities with sustainable sources of livelihood across the country to resettle displaced persons.
At Muna IDPs camp in Jere Local Government Area of Borno, the Federal Commissioner donated food items and relief materials to 500 households.
He also inspected a skills acquisition centre established for IDPs.
