JAMB Issues Guidelines for 2026 UTME Registration
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has issued guidelines for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination registration.
The guidelines released on Sunday through JAMB’s official X handle, is to prepare prospective applicants for the upcoming examination.
According to the board, candidates must ensure that their National Identification Number, email address and other personal details are correct before generating a profile code. To obtain the code, candidates are required to send their 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019.
JAMB told the prospective candidates that once generated, the profile code cannot be changed, and the candidate’s biodata will be retrieved automatically from the National Identity Management Commission.
All candidates are required to visit any JAMB office or accredited CBT centre to complete their registration and should purchase their E-PINs only from approved banks, online platforms or verified vendors.
The board advised applicants to confirm all details on the registration template before submission, warning that incorrect information could lead to complications.
JAMB also urged candidates to resolve any issues with their NIMC data ahead of time and to ensure that their phone numbers and email addresses are unique and functional, as they cannot be changed once the process begins.
It said candidates experiencing biometric difficulties should report to the nearest JAMB office.
The board also emphasised the use of a dual screen during registration to allow candidates confirm that their passport photographs and fingerprints are correctly captured.
JAMB said where they are issues with profile code generation, including errors caused by incorrectly formatted requests, phone numbers already linked to another profile, and temporary inability to verify NIN details, the candidate should follow the correct format, retrieve their registered SIM cards or try again later.
