The Jigawa State caucus of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken a stand on the likely candidate for the party in the 2027 governorship election.

The leader of the caucus, and a leading industrialist, Alhaji Isah Gerawa said they will line up behind the incumbent Governor, Umar Namadi, when the time comes.

He spoke in Auyo Local Government Area during the commissioning of some projects attended by former governor, and current minister of defence, Badaru Abubakar.

“The Jigawa APC caucus, after putting into consideration the achievements of Governor Umar Namadi in every sectors of human development in all parts of the state through proper and strict implementation of his 12 point agenda, it’s stalwarts, party members and entire people of the state arena satisfied with the Malam Namadi’s system of administration and how he is judicially utilizing the state’s resources.

“You are making us proud. We are always proud of you and your government”.

The APC leader blamed “enemies” for amplifying the purported rift between Namadi and Badaru, saying that their aim was to distract government attention.

Gerawa, who took time to explain the scenario, described the purported rift as “untrue and blatant lies” being peddled by enemies of the state.

He said he was part of a meeting this week in Abuja between the governor and the minister, and attended by Alhaji Lawan Ya’u Roni, Namadi’s 2023 Campaign Director General.

“The meeting was held, issues were  discussed, and we all promised and agreed on all efforts for the unity, peace and progress of the party, the government and people of Jigawa state and Nigeria at large.

“Part of the agreement is, we will live and relate honestly and in trust, and we will support the governor to do two terms of eight years like his predecessors did in Jigawa State.

“We also agreed that wherever we are at any time, we will collectively meet and take appropriate action and decision on any matter when the need arises.

“You can all agree to what I said, seeing his Excellency the governor and the minister now sitting together at this historic gathering. You all heard what the minister said in his speech. We thank you very much honourable minister for your fatherly guide, support and advice.”
