Jigawa To Revitalise 30 Rural Health Centres With N3bn

Jigawa State Government has commenced the revitalisation of 30 rural health centres across the state to expand healthcare coverage for vulnerable and indigent populations.
About N3 billion will be expended on the project, said Governor Umar Namadi while flagging the project in Sakwaya village.
Namadi said each of the 30 centres will be fenced and be provided with water and electricity powered by solar, and staff quarters for the health personnel deployed to the rural facilities.
According to him, the revitalisation of the rural health centres will improve access to healthcare services at the grassroots, and support the implementation of the government social healthcare scheme.
He said that the welfare scheme is targeting over 140,000 vulnerable across the state.
“I will be assenting an executive bill passed into law by the Jigawa State House of Assembly amending the law which establishes the Jigawa State Contributory Health Insurance Management Agency.
“One of the major amendments in the law is the establishment of Health Equity Fund to allow for the pooling of financial resources for the purpose of gradual expansion of healthcare coverage for vulnerable and indigent populations and to cater for other health emergencies in the state,” the governor said.
In her remarks, UNICEF Country Representative, Christian Munduate applauded the commitment of the Jigawa state government to improve the quality of health care services in the state.
She said that the initiative was a significant milestone in the joint efforts to combat malnutrition in the state, and pledged that UNICEF would provide free Multiple Maternal Supplements for pregnant women to improve pregnancy outcomes.
“We remain committed to partnering with the state across key sectors to enhance nutrition and health outcomes for the people of Jigawa, especially women and children,” Munduate added.
“We are proud to share the success story of Jigawa with other states and globally, demonstrating what can be achieved through dedication and collaboration. Together, we can continue to make significant strides in improving the health and well-being of children in Jigawa state,” she said.
Commissioner for Health, Dr Abdullahi Kainuwa said the government has procured Dialysis machines to provide vital services for kidney patients.
Kainuwa said that the Dialysis machines will be installed at General Hospitals in Dutse, Hadejia, Gumel, Ringim and Kazaure.
He added that contract has been awarded to equip the state Orthopedic Hospital in Gumel.
