Jigawa Govt constructing 48 new roads, completes 26 others – Spokesman

Jigawa State Government is currently constructing 48 new roads and has completed 26 other roads inherited from previous administrations, a government statement said on Wednesday.
The statement issued by Hamisu Muhammed, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Umar Namadi said the roads cover a total length of 976 kilometers.
“The present administration under His Excellency Malam Umar Namadi has completed all the 26 road projects inherited from previous administrations, and has connected hundreds of rural communities with road networks.
“The governor also initiated 48 new road across the state at the length of 976 kilometres which includes Maigatari – Babura road, one of the longest roads in the state,” he added.
According to him, 30 of the 48 new roads under construction have
reached advanced stage of completion.
Hamisu said that one of the projects, the Sundimina – Birnin Kudu Road awarded at the cost of N11.5 billion, was completed in seven months.
He added that the 47 kilometre Sara – Gantsa Road awarded at the cost of N11 billion has reached about 80 per cent completion stage, while township roads in Bulangu, Gandun Sarki and Dutse have reached 60 – 70 per cent completion level.
The governor’s spokesperson stated that the government has also maintaining failed road sections which were either poorly constructed or washed out by flood.
These, he said, include the eastern byepass, Madobi-Danguli, and Zakirai-Gujungu-Hadejia roads, as well as the Basirka-Gwaram bridges.
Others listed by Hamisu are Balango-Auno-Kafinsa Hausa road, Andaza-Aujara Road, Unguwar Mani-Koreyal-Korau-Gwiwa Road and Tsamiya-Yalwan Damai Road.
Hamisu said Governor Namadi administration inherited 82 billion liabilities, out of which the government had paid over N50 billion.
