Jigawa Govt Inaugurates 20-member team to monitor JIGAWAUNITE educational outcomes
The Jigawa State Government has inaugurated a 20-member team to monitor the implementation of Unified New Improvement of Teaching and Education project (JIGAWAUNITE), a significant initiative aimed at enhancing educational outcomes across the state.
The Syndicate reports that JigawaUNITE is a new education transformation programme by the state to revitalise primary education and deliver dramatic learning gains for all children in public schools across the state.
The monitoring team was inaugurated on Friday in Dutse by the Secretary to the State Government, Malam Bala Ibrahim.
A statement issued by Ismaila Ibrahim Dutse, Public Relations Officer in the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, said Dr. Yau Ahmad Sara, will serve as chairman of the monitoring team while the Director Admin and Finance, State Universal Basic Education Board SUBEB, will serve as Secretary.
Members of the team include Prof Haruna Musa, Executive Chairman SUBEB, Dr Hauwa Mustapha Babura, Technical Adviser Basic Education, Director General Jigawa State Bureau of Statistics, Director General ICT and Digital Economy, Permanent Secretary, Ministry for Basic Education Board, Director Planning Research and Statistics, Ministry for Basic Education, Director Quality Assurance, Ministry for Basic Education, Director Social Mobilisation, Ministry for Basic Education, Director Schools, Ministry for Basic Education, and Director Special Duties, Ministry for Basic Education.
Other members are the Director Planning Research and Statistics, SUBEB, Director Quality Assurance, SUBEB, Director Social Mobilisation, SUBEB, Director Schools, SUBEB, Director Special Duties, SUBEB, and representative of NewGlobe State Programme Team, UNICEF, PLANE, and SBMC.
The SSG said that the government has made substantial financial commitment into the JIGAWAUNITE project, and the task of the committee is to deploy their expertise to facilitate the success of the project.
Malam Bala Ibrahim said their primary responsibilities include evaluating academic performance across participating schools, developing a Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) plan, conducting classroom observations, and preparing monthly and quarterly reports to document successes and lessons learned.
He emphasized that this initiative establishes a strong foundation for data-based policies aimed at improving educational outcomes in Jigawa State.
Responding, the Chairman, Dr. Ahmad Sara, who is also the Director General, Jigawa State Quality Assurance Agency, expressed gratitude to Governor Malam Umar Namadi for the opportunity to serve the state.
He assured that the team will diligently work to justify the confidence placed in them.
