Jigawa Govt Seeks Emirs’ Support For New Education Initiative To Enhance Learning Outcomes

The Jigawa State government has solicited the support of the five first class emirs in the state for the successful implementation of the state government’s programme aimed at improving teaching and learning in public schools.
The programme tagged Jigawa State Unified New Improvement of Teaching and Education (JigawaUNITE), was initiated by the state government to reverse the negative indices in the education system.
It is targeted at revitalising primary education system and deliver dramatic improvements in learning outcomes in public schools for all children across the state.
The Syndicate reports that the acting Managing Director of the programme, Mr Olusanya Omojola, had paid courtesy visits to the five Emirs in Dutse, Ringim, Gumel, Hadejia, and Kazaure.
Omojola said in a statement that the visit was to intimate the traditional rulers and get their support to ensure successful implementation.
“JigawaUNITE represents the vision for a stronger Jigawa State. It will accelerate the numeracy and literacy skills of pupils in the state, enabling them to become productive citizens in the future who will participate in the development of their state as well as compete with their peers anywhere in the world.
“The programme blends structured pedagogy and innovative technology to bridge the current gaps in teaching and learning.
“With a pupil-centric approach, it delivers holistic, high-impact education by treating learning as a science and learning gaps as an emergency,” he said.
Omojola expressed confidence that the programme would transform public primary schools in Jigawa state using modern technology, data-based tools, high-quality learning materials, along with providing teachers and school leaders with effective training, coaching, and support.
“This will not only elevate public education standards but also drive long-term economic growth for Jigawa state.”
The emirs welcomed the initiative and advised the government to integrate technology into basic and higher education systems in the state
In Dutse, the Emir, Alhaji Hamim Muhammadu Nuhu Sunusi, said he been a staunch advocate of integrating technology into the state’s basic and higher education systems “for better and faster inculcation of technology education in to our children at the early age”.
The emir of Gumel, Alhaji Ahmed Muhammad Sani noted that the programme aligns with the educational needs of the state and emphasised that “such initiatives are needed more than ever and should receive total community backing”.
On his part, the emir of Ringim, Alhaji Sayyadi Mahmud assured of Ringim emirate council’s support and corporations at all time, adding that ” the emirate will activate its traditional leadership structures, including village and ward heads, to raise awareness and build ownership across communities”.
Similarly, the Emir of Hadejia Alhaji Adamu Abubakar Maje, expressed full support for JigawaUNITE and commended the state government for prioritizing education as a key pillar of development.
The Emir highlighted the importance of public awareness and advised the team to roll out Hausa-language radio campaigns on local FM stations to sensitize communities about the pprogramme
