Jigawa State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, has honoured 54 women and five men for their selfless contributions to women development.
Mrs Hadiza Abdulwahab, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, said this at a one-day Jigawa Women Summit, on Saturday in Dutse.
The event was organised to commemorate the 2024 International Women’s Day, marked to recognise the contributions of men and women in support of women development in the state.
Adulwahab lauded the state governor, Umar Namadi for his endless support towards women development.
According to her, the recipients greatly impacted on the development and empowerment of women, especially in education, health and economic development.
In their seperate remarks, some of the recipients, commended the gesture, adding that it would encourage them to do more.
A former Minister of Education, Prof. Rukayyatu Rufa’i harped on more investment for girls’ education and empowerment.
She commended the Namadi’s administration for paying special attention to education and advancement of women.
Dr Hauwa Mustapha, a Senior Special Adviser to Gov. Umar Namadi on Early Child Education, tasked parents to provide quality education and moral upbringing of their children.
Prof. Hafsat Ganduje, wife of the former Kano State Governor, Umar Ganduje, urged governments to explore alternative ways to advance education for women.
She, however, challenged girls to explore their potentials in creative skills to enable them to contribute to the society.
On her part, Wife of the Jigawa Governor, Hadiza Umar Namadi, pledged continued support to women in the state.
Namadi enjoined women to explore ways to enable them to become self-reliant.
Some of the recipients included the state governor Malam Umar Namadi, Professor Rukayya Ahmad Rufa’i, Professor Hafsaf Umar Ganduje, Senator Babangida Hussain Kazaure, Hajiya Zahra’u Saminu Turaki, Chairman JiSOP Shuaibu Musa Kafin-Gana, and ESPID programme manager Stella Esedunme.
Others are six former commissioners including Hajiya Fatima Widi Jalo, Hajiya Ladi Dansure, Hajiya Rabi Ishaq, Hajiya Hassana Hussain Adamu, Hajiya Yalwa Da’u among others.
