Jigawa Imams Hold Special National Prayer for Peace, Unity, Divine Guidance

The Chief Imams of Juma’at and conventional mosques in Jigawa State, under the aegis of the Association of Nigeria Imams, converged on the Dutse Emir’s Palace Juma’at Mosque, Garu, to offer special prayers for national peace, unity and divine guidance for Nigeria and its leaders.
During the session, the Islamic scholars recited the Holy Qur’an as well as prayed for wisdom, success and divine direction for leaders at all levels, including Gov.Umar Namadi of Jigawa, to enable them address the country’s socio-economic and security challenges.
The session was led by the National Chairman of the Association, Sheikh Muhammad Adam, and was attended by the Secretary to the State Government, Malam Bala Ibrahim; the Emir of Dutse, Alhaji Mohammed Hamim Nuhu; the Chairman of Dutse local government council, Dr Sibo Abdullahi; as well as national and state executives of the association.
Speaking with journalists after the programme, Adam said that the initiative was part of a nationwide programme tagged National Prayer for Peace, Unity and Divine Guidance, aimed at seeking Allah’s intervention in the affairs of the country.
He described the prayer as timely, noting that Nigeria was at a critical stage that required strong leadership, collective resolve and divine guidance to overcome prevailing challenges.
According to him, Nigeria remains “a nation blessed with abundant resources and resilient people,” stressing that through prayer, humility and unity of purpose, the country could attain peace, justice and prosperity.
Adam said the association deliberately included prayers for President Tinubu and Namadi, saying that effective leadership at both federal and state levels was crucial to improving security and social development.
He said that the programme, which commenced in Kano State on Jan. 15, 2026, was being observed across the nineteen northern states, with the participation of Imams, traditional rulers and civil society representatives.
He added that the Jigawa chapter hosted its session on Wednesday, January 21, 2026.
The association also called on Nigerians of all faiths to join in prayers for national healing, unity and lasting peace, particularly in areas affected by conflict and insecurity.
Also speaking at the event, the Emir of Dutse, Alhaji Mohammed Hamim Nuhu, urged Imams to intensify efforts in preaching the values of peace and unity, describing them as the bedrock of meaningful development.
The emir cautioned against making negative comments about leaders, stressing that such acts were prohibited in Islam.
He urged citizens to remain prayerful and to offer sincere supplications for the nation and its leaders, saying that the impact of such prayers would ultimately reflect positively on the people.
He commended the organisers of the programme and the Imams for sacrificing their time to participate in the special prayer session.
